Warner Brothers Take Me Away

I will always like to be read to.  I will always love a good story.  I am the queen of suspension of disbelief--I let myself get sucked into a tale and it becomes my reality, at least temporarily.  I love the "Alice down the rabbit hole" escapism of literature.
But it turns out, seeing how a big budget movie is created is a fascination, rather than a let down.

I would totally recommend the Harry Potter Studio Tour to any fan of the stories.  It was impressive in its scope and attention to detail.  Thanks to Linda Pruce for her recommendation!  I indeed loved it.  I even enjoyed the butterbeer.  :)

Here are some of my favorite parts:
Snape’s Potions classroom

A close up of some of the many ingredients (all created by the prop masters)
A toast to Butterbeer.

I wonder if the Dursley’s will invite me in for tea?

I think the prop shop and makeup were my favorite parts of the tour:
beards and wigs

gruesome heads

goblin teeth

goblin heads

animatronic Hagrid head to make the double look EVEN taller than his 6'10"

water creature

Every hair on Fenrir’s body was placed by hand.
Ew—but cool, eh?

A film model of the castle.  It was spectacularly detailed and built to scale and carefully decorated for exterior shots.

Interesting elements about the tour:  the prices were not too outrageous. (27 pounds to get in.)  The food available for purchase was reasonably priced and healthy.  (this was an unexpected surprise).  The gift shop was not inexpensive, but again, not too pricey.  Many families come early to kit out the kids in robes and scarves, wands, glasses, and other accessories.  It was really fun to see all the kids running around and zapping people with their wands.  I think one turned me into a newt.
